I'm not sure what the outcome of this was, but we can be sure they will eventually find a way to heavily regulate the institutional churches. It won't just be a catholic issue, as the article says. When this happens we will really start to see the false church persecute the true believers.

Bill would place state in charge of Catholic Church
    Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 3/10/2009 7:00:00 AM

Connecticut lawmakers are considering a bill that would give the government the right to rule the Catholic Church.

Raised Bill 1098 would remove the authority of the bishop and pastor over individual parishes and put a board of laymen in their place. Peter Wolfgang of the Family Institute of Connecticut says a committee hearing will be Wednesday.

"The two co-chairs of the committee -- incredibly powerful men, Representative Mike Lawlor and Senator Andrew McDonald -- are the two openly gay legislative champions of same-sex 'marriage,'" he notes, "so this does feel like it's a sort of revenge, a payback against the church for leading the fight against same-sex marriage."

Wolfgang believes backers of the bill are angry with groups who helped advertise and support Proposition 8 to protect traditional marriage in California. Among those groups was the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization.

Peter Wolfgang (Fam. Inst. of CT)"[T]heir international headquarters is here in Connecticut. They sent over a million dollars to California for the victory in Proposition 8, and so we do think that we sense some payback here against the church and maybe perhaps explicitly against the Knights of Columbus," he concludes.

Wolfgang hopes the public will pack the chambers for the Wednesday committee hearing. He is especially encouraging participation from non-Catholics, as he believes this bill is an attack on everyone's religious liberty

    Not to worry.

"Lawmakers effectively killed the legislation on Tuesday but nearly 4,000 Catholics still held a protest at the gold-domed state Capitol to express opposition to what they said was a threat to the separation of church and state."

HJR104 Public Law 102-14 Signed by Bush and confirmed by Obama is going to make this issue pale.
There IS going to be a blurring of the separation of church and state. you could say there already IS.'Religion' plays a part in the direction the US government goes in, if you were a Lubavitcher you would already know this!
'Christianity' is heading for persecution, no doubt. Considering what 'Christianity' actually is there will be no great loss EXCEPT that everyone should have the right to be misinformed LOL and not be persecuted for it. But the Lubavitchers are the chosen people apparently, and the rest of us are cattle.
We are in the hands of powerful people who believe in gobbledy -Mystery- gook, and who look upon Satan as an illumined being grossly mis-understood. Without him we would be slaves. All we have to do is allow ourselves to be initiated into the New Age and help re-create Atlantis and all humanity's problems will be solved!!! WOW!
But if YOU beg to differ, off with your head!

If you don't believe this then read Manly P Hall , Madam Blavatsky or Albert Pike. Indeed, read the Lubavitchers own propaganda.
ALL corporate religion is ILLUMINATED. Wake up people!!! (Please?)
