From everything I've seen, Kagan is really moderate. She doesn't support gay marriage, which means that it may be struck down if it reaches the Supreme Court. And I think that she will change the make up of the court towards conservatism. So no, I'm not happy about her nomination.

I would have liked to see someone with a bit of experience get the job, as this position is pretty much a long term appointment. However, it would be highly hypocritical to be against someone without political ties, as most politicians currently in offices of importance are fucking pigs and should be tarred and feathered the legal way, through voting their sorry asses out of office. Hopefully she will pan out to be a good one, as the republicans really do not have any reason to stop this other than her lack of ever being a judge... which to me probably is not a disqualifying reason.

All in all she is an outstanding candidate in my opinion. No candidate is perfect. Her knock is that she hasn't had much legal experience, but she does have much experience in something similar. I would rather someone who is very smart but inexperienced get the job than someone who is very experienced but not so smart.
Why? Because it's a lifetime appointment. There will be plenty of time for Kagan to remedy her one weakness. But if she were stupid, 1000 lifetimes on the job wouldn't fix it."I was put on trial twice near Y2K for acting like Jesus and claiming to be the Messiah. Its not everyday that a man parks a Chariot of Fire in front of a tomb and stands against the US government with a bow and razor tipped arrows over his shoulder. I wore a suit of armor and was protected by an invisible bubble and my sharp tongue was more than the judicial system could handle."Jake
