    Do you believe in plagues?

It's a simple question, but it comes with an addendum. Assuming you believe in them, how would you know if a particular event, was one?

Did the Lord intentionally bring plagues upon the earth in the ancient past .... yes,and one can find scriptural evidence of this in the O.T.

Have there been plagues since, yes ..... as a matter of recorded history .... did the Lord bring them? Most likely not .... no scriptural view of them

The earth is under a condition of decay and imbalances because of sin and many random events have and do happen .... some of it is brought on by human behavior .... for example war's aftermath can include plagues [Romans 8:20-22]

Enviromental imbalances brought on by human actions can also cause the same

But, there is a future reference to "plagues" that will beset the great city of MBG during His judgment of the earth at the end of this present age

    Revelation
18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Of course I believe plagues are in the power of the Lord. Not even remotely that any man should boast in the stead of the Lord, as if from a high horse of self-righteousness. How would we know? it doesn't take long for the people to get on the same page of awareness. I mean, think about the plagues that occurred in Egypt: by the time the tribes of Israel were departing from Goshen, it was noised among the people why the plagues were come, and the people turned and gave as much as they could to Israel, so it is said that Israel spoiled the Egyptians at that time.

Discernment is a gift of the Spirit, whether we give God the glory or not.

    Revelation 16:9

And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Here are other references to God sent plagues that will ravage the earth during His coming judgment:

    [Zechariah 14; Revelation 9:18; 9:20; 11:6; 15:1; 15:6; 16:9; 16:21]

    These will be unprecedented:

    Matthew
24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

    Revelation
    6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

    6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

This is a good one to remember, because it suggests a possible timeline for the beginning of modern day plagues.

So if a person is a believer in Holy Scripture, then probably, also a believer in modern plagues.

    >Yes , in fact this attack upon the great city [civilization] part of MBG will be the first of the unfulfilled biblical visions will produce the plagues to take place at the beginning of the Lord's coming hour [time] of trial and judgment [Revelation 8:8; 18:16-18; 18:1-21]

There have been recorded plagues over the past 2000 years upon the earth, but this will be the first upheaval of the tribulation period

The Bible prophets are never wrong with their projections and future fulfillment will be just as in the past .... "a more sure word of prophecy"

In fact this feathure of the scriptures serves to prove that the Bible is the Word of the Living God

I'm not sure the seriousness of what we're doing will become clear until it's too late. The beast is here to kill us, and he is doing just that. Call it a religious statement, but it's going to play out exactly the same, regardless. He breathes fire and he flies. He is thrown to the earth and a flood comes out of his mouth. That's the Biblical description, literally. Now, you tell me that we are not seeing this in our lifetime.

I think it's a simple signpost, from the past to the future. Call it crazy, call it high on drugs, call it mentally ill. It is exactly what has happened.

Have you ever considered why the red dragon in the sky was considered "wondrous?" Isn't that what we should expect from a dragon? The dragon in Hebrew myth doesn't fly. That's the reason it's so wondrous. The Genesis story says the serpent was relegated to crawl on its belly, so how was it able to fly? The answer lies on the surface of the water in the Gulf of Mexico.

You're not going to get this from any Sunday school class, because this wasn't meant to be understood until it was too late to fix it. It's a repeat of the Garden of Eden story. It's the promise of eternal life through technology, instead of Jesus Christ.

This is not going to go well, and no matter who you believe, the signpost is right above our heads and is ignored at the peril of every human being on the surface of the planet .... and above.

Plagues are a part of life. A part of the natural order of life on planet earth. One has to believe in plagues simply because they are a part of recorded history. Naming and sourcing them isn't necessary, We all know of at least one.

Through the ages plague has decimated populations. Why we ask. Punishment for wrongdoing in the eyes of Whatever deity we choose? No. It's simply natures way of controlling overpopulation. Simply put, when a species becomes to numerous it paves the way for organisms to invade, spreading through mediums such as excrement, air, food, water, the environment.

There are many potential plagues around us today. With the discovery of bacteria and soon to follow Antibiotics, Man got a one up on plague. We have learned how plague spreads, and how to kill it. Since that time we have enjoyed a relatively plague free environment, destroying, or at least drastically reducing their effects on population as a whole.

Man has flourished. With the relative absence of plague we have built great cities. We live longer. Agriculture has seen tremendous success, allowing us to feed billions. Great minds have been able to mature (look at Stephen Hawking) allowing technological advances never before seen in the history of man.

Plagues are coming. Man is fighting countless plagues as I type this. It has been seen in the decline of bees, the mutation of viruses from chickens and hogs, STD's, ect, ect, ect. The battle with nature here is never ending. Sooner or later nature is going to get the upper hand here and it's going to hurt.

This is a huge topic, and lots more to be said, questions to be asked. Like why a plague doesn't completely eradicate a species? I suck at writing, even worse at typing.(fat fingers she says have implications as to my girth) so with that I bid you farewell.

If y'all didn't want to debate real plagues, you should have titled it Do you believe in biblical plagues.

Apart from baseless superstition, and from the natural mind that says "time and chance", cause it to come into mind about this time the entirety of the Holy Scriptures.

As Proverb 26:2 tells us "As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come", so do the men that consult shame to their houses by coveting what does not belong to them, and by cutting off many people, indeed cause these calamities. Likewise, think of when all the tribes of Israel could not advance by reason of the one cursed and unclean thing that the LORD saw in the camp.

The people who had taken up shipping from Joppa found out what was going on, once the LORD caused such a tempest that the ship was like to be broken:

    Jonah 1:7
And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. (8) Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?
