Iraq War is Over!! Or is it?
It's deja vu all over again.

+ YouTube Video
"WASHINGTON Despite President Barack Obama's declaration Tuesday of an end to the combat mission in Iraq, combat almost certainly lies ahead.
And in asserting the U.S. has met its responsibilities in Iraq, the president opened the door wide to a debate about the meaning of success in the muddle that most but not all American troops are leaving behind.
A look at some of the statements Obama made in his Oval Office speech and how they compare with the facts:"

Ror, we pull troops out several years after the GOP declares victory and here you are blasting Obama that the war isn't over. Why am I not surprised?

Mission accomplished. It's up to the Iraqi's to insure the integrity of water-services and electrical-power, etc. The war, by definition, is over. Radical nutjobs runnin' around blowin' stuff up isn't a war.

I guess someone doesn't read the fine print.
With 50,000 troops left in Iraq and 1000's of contractors .... Only a complete idiot of a troll whose initials are GamerGal would say something so ignorant.
You can look through my history and see me post in support and debate with other members about Barack Obama awhile back. Bush was such a horrible president, and this Obama character only had optimistic views and called for change. I think I gave it around 6 months, give or take a few, and I realized he is simply going to do more of the same. He is a Corporatist to the worst degree. He has done nothing but continue to ruin this country where his predecessor Bush left off.
The war in Iraq is far from over. Of those 50,000 troops, I am sure there is a gun or two in the many squads. The violence will continue in Iraq beyond a shadow of a doubt. The real focus is Afghanistan now anyway, but it's always nice to get a few more available soldiers from Iraq only to ship them over to Afghanistan for "support and our nation building efforts".
GG, it must suck to get out of bed every day, look in the mirror, and realize that you only support socialist policy and Barack Obama to troll an internet message board all day. You should probably worry about losing your virginity, getting a real job, or maybe just start writing your book titled .. "How I Sold Out: The Story of an Internet Message Board Troll".
It's your call ... I am only trying to help ......

LOL you don't know her shtick yet? She's a closet republican that pretends to be a rabid nutty liberal to make other folks left of center look bad.
As for the story itself...
It reminds me of Vietnam...if it is not a war then what is it? A police action?
Sigh... If I remember correctly the troops were gonna come home last year according to the campaign promises...Gitmo was gonna be shut down along with all the other US concentration camps... Things were gonna change..

Did I say the war was over? No. I just pointed out that you, the GOP, declared the war over years ago and are now blasting Obama for saying it is over.

What? No no no you got that all wrong. The GOP never declared that the war was over, they declared that the mission was accomplished. The mission being the invasion of Iraq for the sake of daddy and his oil buddies. They wanted to control Iraqi oil reserves and now they do. Mission accomplished.
I think what folks are blasting Obama about is the fact that he said he was gonna bring the troops home and end this stupid fucking pointless asinine war.
And he is not doing that.
To the contrary, he is doing the same kind of shit his predecessors did.Jim Crow America relegated Blacks to the back of buses. Israel wants Arabs excluded from the bus entirely.

Pos Rep! Wait, that doesn't exist.
It must suck to be a Republican. For years they claimed the Iraq War was over, had a big ceremony, a big banner for it. And now? Blasting Obama for saying it is over when clearly it isn't. Like uh, you've been claiming for years it has been over so why now... Oh, the same reason you supported off shore drilling until Obama supported it then suddenly it was Anti American.

Listen Troll.......
Your political points are so simplistic, and yet you fail to see the big picture. There is no difference between Bush and Obama in that they both enhance the profit for corporations. This has nothing to do with morals, belief, or what political party they are affiliated.
Obama has continued to.......
- Fund bailouts to banks, automakers, mortgages, and stimulus to a total of around 2-3 trillion when it's all said and done.
- Watch unemployment go to record highs while promising to create 3.5 million jobs if America voted for him. Since he took office, we have lost an additional 4.1 million jobs. I understand he inherited a problem with unemployment, but damn ... can't he do something to back-up his original claims with a somewhat positive number?
- Put out tax increases to families making less than 250k per year. Obama said during his term, families that made 250k or less would not see any tax increases. We are looking at an across the board tax increase of 4% this year alone, while social security and medicare taxes come out on top of this.
- Say that "Keeping Americans Safe" is his number one priority on foreign policy. While, I believe this is important, I also believe that occupation only causes more tension and blowback. Obama said he would withdraw combat troops, and he did, but he left contractors and supposed 50,000 non-combat soldiers in Iraq. Now, he says that Afghanistan is a "War of Necessity", and he plans on pouring more troops into the country. Afterall, it wouldn't make sense to withdrawl all U.S. troops from Iraq, there is still a ton of money to be made.
All of the points I have listed are all things Obama has continued since the Bush administration. He has done it in his own way, but he has continued the same policies. "Change" my ass!
GG, as usual, your feeble simplistic mind fails to see the big picture on Iraq. George Bush proclaimed "Mission Accomplished" before Obama even took office. You only say that because of Bush being a republican president. That had nothing to with the GOP versus democrats, you twit. We will occupy and berate Iraq for years to come, and we will occupy and berate Afghanistan for years to come. We have control of our relationship with Iran for now, but they have only been put on the backburner. Once we have "conquered" Afghanistan, we will leave our 50,000 troops and contractors behind in Afghanistan, and move on to the next nation in the middle east. It's so simple to understand, but you quote others and can't think for yourself to form your own opinions.
I understand you are incapable of intelligent point-driven debate GG.
I would still like to discuss this with others that actually have the ability to intelligently debate and discuss these issues.

You should work on your shtick GG.
Nobody praised Bush as a hero for anything .. at all... ever... (the dude is a card carrying coward incapable of completing a single term in the air national guard for fucks sake) And after that mission accomplished thing he and the whole phrase mission accomplished has been the but of jokes for years now....
Are you suuuure your a US citizen GG....
Most Us citizen know all this bullshit about Bush , mission accomplished , and the incompetent stupidity of it all....
Even a rabid closet republican like yourself should know all about it.
Work on your retinue girl. Your shtick is stale.Jim Crow America relegated Blacks to the back of buses. Israel wants Arabs excluded from the bus entirely.

Iraq was a quagmire and still is. Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds will be killing each other for decades to come. Our biggest mistake was going there in the first place. Now we are stuck supporting a government due to oil.

If there are tax cuts for the rich, then guess where the money MUST come from in order to continue feed the Empire... I mean, the State.
1) If many Americans knew the meaning of blowback, they wouldn't be busy watching worthless TV show like American Idol. Damn, if ALL Americans watched The Simpsons and started criticizing their govt., things would be different.
2) What Obama really said was: "Fellow Americans... of Halliburton and AIPAC, fear not for I'll continue to fight for your causes while the naοve, gullible and apathetic Americans buy our blatant lies that we convince them through fear. And I'll imprison all those treacherous people, like Assange, that reveal things of National Security, even if the sources confirm that our troops have being killing, torturing, firing indiscriminately against civilians and doing what we criticize the must... but what the hell, we are a Americans!".
I second that motion."We have extended our hand, why have you clenched your fist?".

At the risk of repeating myself, I said when Nancy Pelosi became the Speaker nothing would change because they would take her into a nice room and show her THE TRUTH at which point her eyes would be open wide. Obama got the same slide show.
The entire fate of the US rests on destroying Russia and gaining control of the resource rich eastern Russian provinces. That has been the game plan since 1976 and it has not changed, and at this stage of the global geo-political strategy game, there is no possible way it can change, unless the US wants to admit defeat.
In order get control of those provinces, the US must control Central Asia, and in order to control central Asia, the US must control Iran and/or Afghanistan, and that requires control of Iraq.
10 years from now, there will still be 50,000 or more troops in Iraq, because Iraq will become the new "Germany" (at least that's what the plans are).
It doesn't really matter who you vote for, because your vote does not count, because other people who aren't even elected are running the country and they call the shots.
If Ralph Nader were president, you'd still have General Betrayus leading the surge in Afghanistan and 50,000 troop in Iraq, because they would take him into the nice room and put him in the comfy chair and he'd watch the slide show on THE TRUTH and then he would be enlightened and then you could watch him break all of his campaign promises just like Obama is.This White House photograph is made available for publication by news organizations or personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. Umm I remember the burned out wrecks along the roadside after the "nutjobs" continued their war. For every inch of ground left vacated by U.S troops, uncle Ho made sure it belonged to him, right up to the doors of Saigon.
There is no way in hell Iraq could be independent, Arabs function under a dictatorship, always have.
Besides, Iraq is nothing more than a jump off point for bigger things. To control the Middle East, you need bases. All we did here was expand the playing field.
Our limited resources are the picture here, there was never any intention to democratizes Iraq or win a war.
when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature
