Regeneration

I thought this article was pretty interesting. It's not too specific, because scientists are still trying to isolate the stem cells that allow regeneration in amphibious vertibrates. An interesting read, none the less.

Its very ironic that often times I have a discussion personally with someone, I always seem to find the same subject sooner posted here on AO. That was an interesting read there lazserus. I know it sounds bizzare, but if only it were possible to some how adopt this same method of regeneration into human beings...that would be awsome. Though it would be very complexed to figure it out and to learn every aspect of it. I think there would be very unexpected consequences if it were to happen. Think about it, imagine this regeneration ability is some how acquired into an experimented person, what would happen? How would a body adapt to it? Just some thoughts.

A lot of stem cell research is designed for finding the answer to regenerating tissue and possible lost limbs. I think we're a long way away from it, but I definitely see it as a possibility. However, you'll find yourself in a discussion just like our Clone thread.

Aug 6th, 2004 8:15 PM #4You're right there Laz. Spare body parts is just a scary thought. I remember years ago, I was watching Nova (Before The Discovery Channel) and they were researching how lizards regenerate their tails. I recall they were trying to understand why the lizard will regenerate their tail but not a leg. I imagine bones would be more complicated. However, you'll find yourself in a discussion just like our Clone thread.
