And this is just the start of the global economic fall out.
You should never put all your eggs in one basket and that is exactly what globalization has done with its departmented production. Now the rest of the world is short of what was only produced in Japan.Blessings in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ who came in the flesh and now sits at the right hand of our God on high.
A confession of faith that the modern Evangelical movement can no longer make!

Pardon the pun, but Germany and Switzerland are overreacting. The plants can be inspected one-at-a-time. There's no justification for Merkel's team to panic.

They have to give the show of concern because the plebeian masses, the IGNORANT general public, will do their typical over reaction and misunderstand every single facet of this event, and start crying about "OMG I HAZ DAT NEWCLEAR PLANT IN MY TOWN OH MA GAD". All at the behest of their slavedrivers in the media, carrying horse whips and manipulating the entire situation to sell a sensationalised fiction.
This is why politicians have to LIE, because the HARD TRUTHS have to be SOFT SOLD to a general public who is so ridiculously ignorant they dont even deserve democratic rights.

I think it is a step in the right direction ... Considering alternative energy has been available since before the establishment of the petrol economy ...Nuclear power just doesn't make sense... Unless your also making nuclear bombs ... which we all know the MIC has to have

They're not exactly panicking about the nuclear power plants. Merkel's party is and always was in favor of nuclear energy. They even extended the lifecycle of the oldest plants although they were supposed to be phased out and some of them produced alarming malfunctions.
The only thing they are panicking about is the upcoming elections.

Yes I have, but this dosnt mean a knee jerk reaction to Nuclear Energy is required. That was EXACTLY MY POINT. The general public, the stupid, ignorant, oh GOD the DAMNED ignorant fools, have a knee jerk emotional reaction to EVERYTHING.
Thats why EDUCATION never gets reformed, because you cant even BEGIN to because the stupid little voters (aka ALL OF US) has a hissyfit at every single thing.
This is why politicians LIE. Because you can NOT be serious with the general public, you can NOT tell them the simple, hard fucking facts about what needs to be done, or why something gets done. We are too ignorant to our very CORE. So, a great game of politics gets played out, fake concern over nuclear energy, doing a great show of shutting down our nuclear plans for the moment, rather than addressing the real issues and having a deep, society wide REFORM and bringing in advanced plans.

Its no secret that the current form of nuclear power is unsafe.
And can not be considered safe unless we have a period of world peace lasting for at least 100 thousand years. Which coincidences with a similar period without any chemical disasters.
The more they are closed down, the better. Nuclear power is only a distraction from the path of clean renewable energies.

I dont disagree Lycanox.
But I dont think we will ever have a real debate in our societies over taking hard steps. In Britain, we are primely located to harness wind and tidal energy, we could produce 100% of our nations energy needs and have a LOT left over to sell on to mainland Europe. Unfortunately, the stupid fucking retards "The British Public" wont allow it.
Anytime a proposition is made to build huge windfarms, offshore or onshore, they start acting like butthurt little shits "OH WAH WAH WAH NO WE WANT WIND BUT NOT NEAR ME" and the politicians have no choice but to cancel the plans.
You could supply all of Africa and Europe with solar energy (with enough room for massive growth) by building solar panels across a large area in the desert, but it will never be done because people will whine about the cost of implementing it, about the loss of jobs in other energy sectors.
Nuclear is the only solution in our backwards, ignorant societies. Atleast for the moment.

People should have been just as worried about this issue before, if they're so worried now. This is the typical reaction, isn't it? Only responding after a major disaster happens. And you always wonder if the decisions made during that time will stick once the memory of the disaster has faded a bit. Our complacency often returns, and we're right back where we started.

Japan had a 9.0 quake near a major nuclear plant and its two back up systems failed. Germany is overreacting.

Shutting down all plants is over-reacting, but shutting them down one at a time for an operational and procedural review is not over-reacting. Granted, Germany isn't exactly subject to repeated tsunamis like Japan has been throughout its existence, but flooding from local rivers could cause back-up systems to fail in the same way flooding from the tsunami caused back-up systems at the Japanese plants to fail.
I guess it never occurred to Obama to order a review of US nuclear plants. This White House photograph is made available for publication by news organizations or personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph.
