What does it all mean...
There was a saying back in the late 60s, "what does it all mean Mr.Natural ?.... it don't mean shit". This was a sarcastic view of the political attitudes and apathy of the day, and if you really thought about it, it didn't mean shit to the average schmuck on the street.
And after reading all the ..*cough ..opinions regarding the demise of OBL and the arguments surrounding its validity, I couldn't help thinking, what does it all mean? and in the end, it didn't mean shit.
Symbolic? maybe, closure? perhaps, and if every so called bad guy was suddenly eliminated around the world, would it change anything? or will the same power bill still dump down in the mail box, or will the 5 bucks a gallon at the gas pump still be there?
I can't help the feeling that its all some insane game we're caught up in, but at the same time we debate it using what we think is logic... how does one apply logic to insanity? we agree that the world is crazy, but we have no valid answer for it. We blame it on the government, yet we allow the apathy.
Theoretically if every world leader vanished tomorrow, nothing would be any different for the average schmuck on the street. So maybe the influence of both the bad guys and the world leaders is something we imagine, as it really doesn't effect the daily drudgery of 9 to 5.
Maybe we debate the issues of the days news to give it some relevancy in our lives? even though it really didn't touch us in any realistic way. We watch it happen on the news, then we argue whether or not its true, or blame the source on some political affinity. We celebrate with some weird sense of victory, yet we really don't care the day after, because you realize it didn't change anything.
What does it all mean?....it don't mean shit. ( pours large scotch)

There's that dang word again. "Apathy". It will undoubtedly be my downfall one day. When I'm burned by those who are apathetic, I remain unjaded and still seek to help others. It may be a curse in the end.
Opposite of apathetic are the TIPpers who always 'take it personally'. Like, as if someone disagrees with your opinion they are out to get you. I'm not going to slam the people who rejoice in OBL's execution, but I would have rather seen him rot in jail. I doubt it will be long before the "haha we got your terrorist leader" will turn in to "oh crap we created a martyr".
I've been a QTIPper for a few years now and I have a feeling you are too.

I felt a little sad about OBL's murder...He used his affluence for EVIL, his power for evil. But he was still a human being. I don't ever want to be a person who rejoices over a murder..I see nothing different in our flag raising and theirs after 9 11..can't people see???

The question I have been asking is what actually sparked off this chain of events, I doubt that a group of bored camel jockeys decided one afternoon to plan 911 just to get some action. Something must have happened to make them want to take a swipe back and that action in itself was probably prompted by another as well.
If it could all be traced back to the start you will probably find it was some insignificant Father hitting back for some Child hurt that escalated out of hand till thousands are dead and whole countries overturned.Blessings in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ who came in the flesh and now sits at the right hand of our God on high.
A confession of faith that the modern Evangelical movement can no longer make!

Well we watch events roll by like some strange advertising screen displaying the trauma across the globe, one week its some horrendous earthquake, then some military action against a dictator, then an assassination, and the keyboards light up with emotions somehow violated by these events.
The humor in all this ( not the events mind you) are the arguments that always follow, heated remarks laced with the colorful definitions regarding the mental state of curtain posters, sides get taken, rep gets thrown around like Halloween candy. Then the whole thing settles down for a few days and people shuffle off to the AO casino or hang in chat with the latest cyborsex conversations.
We hate anxiety, but loath boredom, so the earthquakes alleviate the later, we're chocked by the inhumanity of war, yet we watch it like football playoffs, which brings into question our own state of mind, or at least our values.
There once was a time when people were content to read Dickens by candle light, or watch the neighbors cow give birth while discussing the weather.
