    Wink teacups on the fence

this is a poem i wrote several years ago. it's a nonsense poem about my brther-in-law's habit of leaving his empty mugs on fenceposts around his property
    Teacups on the fence

As we worked around the place,
we'd find them here and there.
Some with Santas, some with flowers,
    one with a teddy bear.
The stars and moon shown clear and bright
    under the lazy summer sun,
recalling a time several months past
when we played at winter fun.
    why were they here?
    It didnt make sense.
    How could we have forgotten,
    the teacups on the fence.
