Humans used fire one million years ago!
Seems a cave discovered in South Africa shows evidence that our ancesters used fire thousands of years earlier than previously thought. story here:

Kind of makes you wonder if any of those hypotheses of large human civilizations prior to Egypt and Mesopotamia and the rest, destroyed by natural disasters, are true.
"I was put on trial twice near Y2K for acting like Jesus and claiming to be the Messiah. Its not everyday that a man parks a Chariot of Fire in front of a tomb and stands against the US government with a bow and razor tipped arrows over his shoulder. I wore a suit of armor and was protected by an invisible bubble and my sharp tongue was more than the judicial system could handle."Jake

I figure that tribes or nomad-rangers had firekeepers, keeping lightning-strike lookouts over wooded terrain, or on brushfire-watch... Like Burgess' Quest For Fire. 'Fire Keep' was probably a noun, and a place, in many languages... In volcanic regions, there were desperados who braved the slopes to gather coals and rocks. I'll wager that Earth hasn't seen a day without some sort of fire burning somewhere for centuries.

Well that there is very neat! Kinda history re writing stuff that makes one rethink everything.
Jim Crow America relegated Blacks to the back of buses. Israel wants Arabs excluded from the bus entirely.

It's possible that it was discovered locally at first then the skill was lost because it wasn't transferred. Either way, cool story man.

Yeah. It's funny how so many now wield flame forged tech without the slightest inkling as to how it came into being.
Reminds me of Jared Diamond's hair...
+ YouTube Video
I'm not too sure what he said since I was too distracted by his hair...
Again.
He's now too busy burning/tainting western history due to the criticism of his relatively objective report of other less successful cultures histories.
Maybe his hair is a result of his latest firefighting methods.
Considering that "good hair" now often equates "bias" in good ole' modern America...
But still, he makes some good points.Parlo in Italiano alle donne, in Francese agli uomini, in Spagnolo a Dio, e in Tedesco al mio cavallo.
