Silence or inaction can, when applied at the right moment, be more painful then a thousand words or a million bullets.
But why all the thought about competition? Growth is not about competition, it's about cooperation. Much like how some animals raise their children well into adulthood and all of a sudden stop feeding them. Inaction here isn't about competition, but about growth.

decided at the start of the year to enter the Royal Institute of Philosophy essay competition, this years title being 'the value of truth'.......had decided to look at the conflict between science and spirituality and whether truth has any value in this debate at all (ahem bit more in depth than simply conflict).....well I have to say pinning some of the issues down has proved somewhat difficult.....I could reduce the word count from 10,000 words to just these few scentences by Ludwig Wittgenstein "Even if all possible scientific questions be answered, the problems of life have still not been touched at all. Of course there is then no question left and just this is the answer"..."What we cannot speak about we must pass over in silence"
"Two things are infinite: the Universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the Universe." -Albert Einstein [1879-1955]
