As good as this site is, it's just not worth being berated by your members and who are allowed to do it consistently to even the people who have been faithful to you and your work for years. Sites live or die by moderation, and bad moderators and fucktard posters will kill a site in no time flat, like this site. A site that has nearly 7,000 "registered users" but only 4 members on-line should tell you there's problems.

Management thinks 2012 will save their asses, with thousands of people coming here, but they doesn't understand that 2012 done blew its wad; it was over-hyped every which way for 8 years now, and it's done.

I could bring a few hundred disciples here to GamerGal On-Line on a near daily basis, but why would I want to? They wouldn't hang around long with fucktards like GG and DBA (besides, my site will be running by the end of the year anyway).

In addition to that, the Vender and Privacy Ratings for this site are less than 60 (which is quite horrid), and it takes minutes for pages to load, even when using Road-Runner cable/broadband. I ain't got time to go through and block all of those useless sites loading up. And the search function is garbage. A dead blind person could have designed a better search function.

Some things are best left to rot and die.

And yes, I'm here to gloat.

Well one could hardly say this place is over moderated, there is a lot of freedom of expression here in the form of personal opinions, if it weren't so, then the amount of reported posts wouldn't be as it is now. For those who think that quality has suffered by management, think again, those same people have the ability to create a well written piece, if the effort was made. The same energy used to post one line come backs and opinions could be used in a positive way in the form of creative research.

This place works when members take the time to invest their efforts.

I've got to agree with Ning here. This site has realy taken a nose dive in terms of content. I ignore all of GGs hate topics so there is very little left to read other than the constant bullying of new members. I'm not sure why I still come to this site.

The retarded dutch boy moderator hasn't helped either. I thought things might improve when TC and Nu returned as mods, but alas they are only human.

I hope Ning will send me his new website addy. I may not have agreed with his posts but at least they were interesting.

Man we do what we can to keep this place half way sane, without chocking the life out of it, years ago it was Nazi mods that was the complaint by those members who demanded free expression, and we lost people as well. So whats the middle ground? what method should be used to limit the friction that isn't already in use? And your right, we are only human, and with that limitation we fall short of perfection. This point hits painfully home when the complaints come from people you respect and value as members. Sadly we can't please everybody huh.

All I can say is people come and go, like any other web forum. And with those people who say they are leaving for better pastures, you get new people and sometimes the return of former members. The funny thing is that some of the bigger voices claiming AO is finished and plan to move on, still post. Its easy to lay the blame on either management or lack of quality threads, but at the same time take no responsibility for said quality, which after all comes from members....

Management can only do so much, and thats a fine line between holding some sort of order on the board, and still allowing free expression. The quality of subject and debate lays in the effort put forth by members.

What did I miss?

This post will not make much sense as I am overly fueled on coffee and I came here to share some great personal news which I will share in a post I made in Off Topic but I saw this first and feel compelled to dash off a few lines.

As to why I've not been online here much, there are lots of reasons. The first is, as most of you know, I've had a huge change of life and circumstances, initiated by myself because I couldn't live a lie any longer. I've become a Big Girl now and am supporting myself. Having several jobs now doing things I love, thus supporting myself, takes up a lot of time! I also love being single again so am trying to cultivate a social life, in real-time.
One slightly unawesome part of all this newfound independence has been I had to go a long time with little to no internet- but then again that has turned out awesome, too.
The internet I have now is better than nothing, but it is a shared wireless connection and sometimes I just have a hard time logging on here.

But even before I went from super-net to sucky-net, I was taking a break. Why?
Those who care to notice might have noticed that lately when I stop by now, I am not posting news and such like I did before in Politics and Current Events- this when News and Current Events was actually my favorite place to be here.
I've been taking a huge break from the Politics section because the inanity there overran me. People get into these retarded arguments that distract from the very real issues that are bringing us down. People seem determined to remained trapped in the false, dividing Dem v/s Repub mindset. I find it mind-numbing and sometimes I simply cannot take it anymore. You people have no idea... and I surely wish sometimes I was as ignorant as many I come across, just so I'd not be so concerned.

Re GG- I'm going to be honest.
Now- I am lucky enough to count among my friends here at AO people from all ends of the political spectrum- Left, Right, Up, Down, Secular, Religious, and many of us have maintained long-term internet friendships. Out of that mix, a multitude of people have complained to me about what they see as GG's constant trolling and hate-baiting. A lot of people who have left the site, or who leave and then come back, tell me it is for that reason. I can relate and I totally understand, up to a point. (Hint- supplying mere links does not automatically mean the links are to honest sources or are not links to bullshit. Supplying links to back up your troll does not mean you are not trolling. ;) )

What to make of that? Why would I keep getting the same opinion/comments from such a wide mix if it were something as stupidly simple as "the Righties have a problem with me because I post links!" I know of at least two prominent AO "lefties" who no longer post here for the same reasons I take breaks.

So anyway, people complain to me about GG and I tell people- put her on ignore. Just do it, and post as if she does not exist if it bothers you that bad. But do they do it? No. They do not. They keep stirring the turd and then complain about the smell.

Holy fucking cow, I get SOOO tired of that!

Now I am a multi-facted woman for sure. I am also moody and such. You never really know what you'll get from me on any given day, and I'm sorry for that. I just go with the wind,you know. But a few things about me remain constant, and one of those things is if a situation or a person seems impossible to deal with no matter how hard I try, I walk away. I am not one to beat a dead horse. I will not waste my time trying to take down a brick wall with a butter knife. I am too smart to waste my time trying to do the impossible.

So don't complain to me anymore about GG, especially if you are going to feed into her game constantly, thus promoting it. You guys are getting all upset, she is having a ball and thinks you are hilarious. Seems to me then she is smarter than you, here. As noted, we have a freakin Ignore button for those who cannot help but argue with trolling. I've learned to get along with her on other subjects and just pretend not to see her in Politics, even if that means simply not going to Politics for awhile for those times I am feeling emotionally reactive. I'll share a laugh with her, or some music or whatever, but I'm not going to attempt any in-depth, serious conversation with her in re to Politics or Current Events because that would be like trying to teach Chinese to a frog. It cannot be done. When I find myself becoming overly frustrated and shouting at the computer because I've foolishly allowed myself to step into another bucket of bullshit, I pull my foot out, take off those nasty boots and head in another direction.

So I want to know... why can't everybody do similar? Not suggesting you all take a sabbatical like I do, but why not try the Ignore function if you cannot handle the inanity? Why not find points you can agree on somewhere else, and cultivate those, while not participating in something that makes you angry? And if you actually do enjoy the constant bickering amongst yourself, and outright hateful fighting, then why not have at it like you do, but don't complain to us mods about something you are actively encouraging?

As for people who like to moan and groan about how terrible AO has become- let me ask you, what have you done specifically to make it better? Oh, nothing? Then just hush. Stop blaming the mods for your personal angst.

The ads do slow the board down hugely for those who have to deal with them- that much is fact and I feel your pain. A small donation will take care of that and erase the ads as if by magic. Some may balk at that idea, but look at it this way- if you care enough to bitch and moan, is it not worth $5 or $10 to take away a major source of your complaint, so you can participate in a community you claim means so much to you? Or are you just the type of person who likes to complain? You can change AO by being here.

Actually this caffeine fueled little ranty post has made me want to post again in Politics. I get mad sometimes and walk away, or I get sad sometimes and walk away... I get busy sometimes and walk away, I become financially disabled and walk away... but you know what, I keep coming back to this place year after year because there is no other like it on the Web. The Drama Queen Exits are part of what makes AO so beautiful. Tell me, what is it that brings some of us back year after year, through the boring times as well as the exciting? What type of mind have we built here that we keep plugging into and contributing to, just by communicating with each other on this one spot of consciousness on the Web?
