Obama's Dream Act - illegals can stay but legals have to go.
That's right. If you are here legally you are not protected under the Obama executive order Dream Act unless your immigration status expired prior to his executive order.
Erin Gray is a 21 year old who was brought to this country legally from England when she was 4 years old. But now that she is 21, she has to leave.
" Ironically, under the DREAM Act-style guidelines now being followed by the Obama administration, an illegal immigrant in Gray’s position would be welcome to stay while following a path to citizenship. Earlier this year, the president instructed the Justice Department not to deport law-abiding illegal immigrants if they arrived as minors, graduated high school and have lived in the U.S. for at least five years before 2001, though the administration has denied the guidelines amount to amnesty. While the DREAM Act was designed to apply only to illegal immigrants, the Obama guidelines do cover legal immigrants — provided their immigration status expired prior to June 15.
Illegal immigrants can also obtain a six-year residency if they complete two years in the military or two years in a four-year institution of higher learning. Once they earn a degree or complete two years in good standing, they may qualify for permanent residency.
But not Gray, who moved to the U.S. with her parents, Ali and Ian, and her younger sister Gemma, after her grandparents came.”
And Gray has even been trying to obtain a Green card for years.
She thought she was about to get hers before her senior year in college, but one day her priority date got pushed unexpectedly.
“It was moving slowly. We were within nine months of priority date and we got bumped back two years.”
That delay means Gray will “age out” of her parents’ visas before any green card can be issued. “

Aug 10th, 2012 2:26 PM #2So you are saying he should expand the executive order to include more people who are in danger of deportation...? If that is not what you are saying then you arent saying anything and should shut the fuck up.That's right. If you are here legally you are not protected under the Obama executive order Dream Act unless your immigration status expired prior to his executive order.I aggressively attack stupidity... If you feel I am being aggressive, well....

I don't agree with him using an executive order to go around congress but if you're going to do it at least do it for everyone and not just your voting base, umm I mean illegals.

Aug 10th, 2012 3:17 PM #4Yo B... Illegals cant/dont vote... Relying on a voting base that doesnt/cant vote is about as dumb as believing mitt romney wont sell your sons into slavery.I don't agree with him using an executive order to go around congress but if you're going to do it at least do it for everyone and not just your voting base, umm I mean illegals.
So are you saying that he should have used a broader stroke with his executive order? Or are you saying NOTHING?I aggressively attack stupidity... If you feel I am being aggressive, well....

Two can play this game.
Do you believe that only non-white illegals should be given amnesty or should it be for everyone including those already here LEGALLY?

Aug 10th, 2012 3:32 PM #6Everyone... Or at least most everyone... Not known criminals... and no, I dont consider living here without documentation a crime...Two can play this game.
Do you believe that only non-white illegals should be given amnesty or should it be for everyone including those already here LEGALLY?
So are you saying he should have gone further or are you saying nothing?I aggressively attack stupidity... If you feel I am being aggressive, well....

Aug 10th, 2012 3:53 PM #8So you are actually saying that you would be happier with him had he expanded the executive order to include amnesty for even MORE people who are here or would be here illegally... The girl in the story will be asked to leave when her legal stay/invitation here expires by the way... So she will no longer be "legal" in the proper sense of the term. Are you thick or something?
If that is what you are saying then say it. You wish he had taken more liberty with the executive order...
Of course if that is what you are saying then you are a walking contradiction...I aggressively attack stupidity... If you feel I am being aggressive, well....

Here is a story and video about Lauren Gray's situation. How ironic illegal immigrants break US law and get special treatment from Obama, while legal immigrants who follow the law are treated like illegals by Obama.

So Obama's executive order only applies to indigenous illegal immigrants from Mexico? Under the exact same conditions a white European person would not be allowed to remain?
If the woman in this thread's scenario were of Mexican heritage, would she be legally allowed to stay, due to her ethnicity/skin color, under Obama's executive order?
Or would she too be required to follow the same rules?
Because that seems to be the argument here.

Well said. It does indeed appear then that the point of the thread is that the executive order should be expanded.
But that would also mean that any immigrants of Mexican heritage, under the same circumstances, should be allowed to stay as well. Is that really what we want? (I don't think so.......)
Then again, if the opposite were made true, then the special white lady would have to leave anyway. I seriously doubt that this same scenario would be then presented here, demanding her exportation. Really. It wouldn't be.
