Nov 24th, 2004 12:46 PM #3Rather never owned up to it. He blamed it on bad sources.

he may have been setup by false documents. but the story still stands. W was allowed into the National Guard ahead of many other qualified candidates. the Lt. Governor of Texas already fessed up to it.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1999/...ain48284.shtml
"
Correspondent Dan Rather talks exclusively to former Texas House Speaker and Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes, a Democrat, about the role Barnes says he played in getting President George W. Bush into the Texas Air National Guard -- and why he now regrets it.
"
Rather was just a smokescreen to misdirect viewers, a red herring, to throw their attention away from what transpired. Looks like you fell for it.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programme...ht/1991885.stm
"
One of America's foremost newscasters, Dan Rather of CBS, says the US media has stopped asking tough questions of the Bush administration since 11 September.
"
And instead of focusing on who did what, when. Everyone's going, "typewriters of that time could not have produced that document". BS. Sounds pretty Rove-ian to me.Last edited by Emerald_Dragon; Nov 24th, 2004 at 5:10 PM.

Nov 24th, 2004 11:11 PM #5Oh man, that is so not what Bush did...Rather never owned up to it. He blamed it on bad sources.
Bush never owned up the the bad intelligence on Iraq!!! He blamed it on bad sources....
...oh well, wait a minute....
Dan Rather apologized on National TV - and if you saw any of his election coverage, you would know even FOX and CNN said he did a good job. He made a few mistakes and jumped on some bad sources and intelligence - sorta liike TV stations giving florida to gore 4 years ago. They should all be fired right?
WHY don't you take a look at the man who did the same (cited bad sources) , but has spent nearly $200 billion, over 1000 american lives, 15,000 Iraqi Lives, and who some in the international community hate him more now than they hated Saddam.
And as far as I'm concerned, it's 1 down... two to go. Blitzer an d O'Reilly should be next.
And Emerald is right - he got benefits and special treatment regardless...Email : webmaster (-at-) armageddononline (-dot-) org or click here.

Do you honestly want somebody's carrer ruined because they spoke against bush? That would mean 47 or 48 % of the us poulation. Do you have an 18 year old son? wait for the draft. Wait for the dollar to be devalued. Wait to attack N. Korea or syria or I ran, wait for the US to become the black sheep of the world. Then lets hear you complain.

I love this post because it really drags out all the bush bashers. I start with dan rather and in an instant it becomes a bush bashing convention. Brilliant.

Nov 29th, 2004 3:06 PM #15Wrong i simply started with a news article about dan rather. Everyone already knows how anti-bush he is. I accomplished what i set out to do. By exposing all the hardcore bush haters i can now create my ignore list. Therefore Brilliant!

So he comes here to create an ignore list. What a lofty purpose to join a group designed for debating so he can ignore the members.
Ignoramus Exaltus ~ how ever so enlightening.
Oh yes, did I mention that according to his birthday he is all of 15?
I thought something smelled like CF around here but I was wrong. It's worse.

Quite a Ruthless Crew. Arggg, Dost me smell a lynching from thee Crows Nest? Or shall He walk the plank.
For so many broad statements to cast so many aspersions at Bush, let's look at the responsibilty that Blather should have had when he went on the air with these alledged forged documents. Does anyone agree with a seasoned (and I mean Seasoned), reporter of his caliber to go live with a story of such enormous impact that Good Ole Dan would at least do his Homework? It almost seems like Dan was set up from being so lacadaisical in relying on so many others to provide him with copy for so many years. He fell for it Hook, Line, and Sinker. What ever happened to Rathers hard line approach to the news. I doubt seriously that Walter would have ever gone live with such a smelly fabrication. prime Time News reporting has turned into a propaganda machine for the Liberal Train of Zero Personal Responsibility that the aging Baby Boomers and their Children have fallen prey to.Last edited by dutchie; Dec 1st, 2004 at 2:28 AM. Nov 30th, 2004 8:40 PM #21LOL, marvelous! I am quite fascinated by pirate lore! So much so I "play" one in a medieval reenactment group.

I never paid much attention to Rather to know whether he was liberal or conservative myself but I most certainly agree he made a great faux paux regarding the "reliable" informant. He blew it, big time. Although his credibilty has sunk lower than Davey Jones locker, I do give the guy a nod for publically broadcasting it as well as a much needed apology.
I wish Bush would be just as forthcoming and with apology as Rather was. Until that time Ill be very happy to post goodbye and good riddance to him at the end of this turn myself.
I'd also like to see another Cronkite but I doubt there ever will be. Theres about as much chance of that happening as Bush and crew being factual before being forced to regarding the M.E. Id love to be proven wrong on either account.

Nov 30th, 2004 8:41 PM #22To what are you refering to? Youre not very forthcoming about anything that would require some kind of back up are you?

I think there are many moderate liberals, who see the err of D.L. but still cling to the idea that personal responsibility is not in there control and wish to blame the problems on someone else, again without a workable solution.
Just a couple of definitions, among many that I have contemplated over the years.
Now on a less serious note. I was captured by your Screen Name so I did a little research. You may have experienced this story already, but in case you haven't.

Dan Rather lost credibility with me when he interviewed Saddam. The interview was very weak and designed to only get ratings. I personally like O'Reily, although I don't agree with him all the time. I'm not crazy about Ultra Right or Left Wing media folks. That Blonde chic (Her name escapes me right now) that is FOX news commentator, is so far to the Right, she's a fuqin Nazi!
