pure nicotine disposal
Ok, so I was a fool. I ordered 99.9% pure nicotine (20 grams)... not for entertainment, mind you... rather the complete opposite (long story which I am not going to share here). I am aware the stuff is highly poisonous and can kill even when you inhale enough of the it.
I haven't got the proper equipment to handle it.
I haven't got the proper equipment to store it.
And I need help in getting rid of the stuff. Where should I go in order to have it disposed of properly?
I am afraid and scared this might end up going completely wrong... Please help. It might arrive monday and I'd rather prevent it from arriving (it might be delivered to my neighbors).
I'm looking for practical info, not religious zealotry, shouting matches or endless tails how dangerous the stuff is. I am well aware of that and I'd rather prevent innocent deaths (iincluding my own) or expensive cleanup operations.
Please help.
EDIT:
I'd never harm a soul, but recently my thoughts have been quite dark and I have been thinking about the ultimate exit for myself. Please understand, I don't want or ever intended to harm anyone.Last edited by Confuzion; Aug 17th, 2012 at 6:47 PM. Reason: reason

Not an expert:
People seem to have an easy time burning it... pun intended.
and you were going to kill yourself with nicotine? Perhaps I dont know enough about the stuff... but I would wager there are easier ways.I aggressively attack stupidity... If you feel I am being aggressive, well....

if it's unopened i suggest taking it to a medical center or hospital and simply say that you've changed your mind (about using it as an alternative to cigarettes) and you don't know how to dispose of it safely.
if they insist on asking questions, just stick to your story. you bought it to smoke it, you bought it on the spur of the moment before you read about how to use it, (it seems a dangerous thing to mess with), and you've changed your mind and don't know how to safely get rid of it. keep your story simple, and repetitive.

on the other hand you haven't recieved it yet. so mark it "return to sender" and mail it back. you can if you want contact the sender first to clear it with them. just leave the package unopened. they probably have a returns policy in place. check their website if they have one.
in other words don't panic about it.

I had some in liquid form, ( 10 gr.) for loading electric cigarette filters. Terrible shit to use. I made a hot fire and burned it.

when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature

I don't have a car (public transit actually is quite well over here), is it safe to walk around with it in 25 degrees (celsius) for about 15 minutes?
And if left in those temperatures, won't it evaporate? Even inside the packaging? I am quite worried about one of my neighbors receiving it and putting it somewhere and then dying because of the vapors.

i think that it would actually be bottled and packaged for safe travel though the mail correctly.

Thanks for all the supportive replies - I am already receiving help, but at times I still do such silly (lack of better word here - I am a non-native english speaker).
I informed the authorities of my act of desperation and well... erm... police helped me out and dropped me off at a local hospital to receive help - the officer in question offered me a lift (no, not as a prisoner). They are trying to intercept the package and Monday-morning 0800 CET I am going to inform whether that has succeeded or not and whether they expect me to remain at home in order to receive the package.
I hope they succeeded - the stuff is very, very poisonous in its purest form.
If that would comfort some of you: I am receiving the help I need. My entire family is now informed of the situation and are looking after me.

Don't try burning and breathing nicotine indoors. It is the equivalent of a Black Flag Roach Bomb. It coats surfaces and will make your whole house smell like a cigar!
Your best bet is return it to the manufacturer.
Stop trying o kill yourself - you are probably suffering from depression, which is a treatable illness...See a doctor, get rid of the pain!
If you insist on killing yourself, do it like everyone else does it, eat a lot of junk food and pizza, drink those soda pops they hate in New York, and have a nice coronary!
P.S. When you feel like killing yourself, do one nice secret deed of kindness to someone else... it will change your brain chemistry, and chase away the demons of despair.
