Militia's in the West???

militias groups are poping up all over the islamic world ... much of the 3rd world for that matter...
ever scince the americans invaded iraq i have wanted to eather create a militia group or join one but this phenominon has not yet hit the USA ... we got gangs and stuff but wait till the gangs start militarizing...

If you think lawlessness is freedom, then you have another thing coming. Without government, there can be no freedom. Freedom ends when you take it away from someone else. Its the classic "your freedom ends just before your fist hits my nose."

It sounds oxymoronic, but let me explain:

A group of 100 people make up a villiage.
90 of us do nothing to infringe on any one elses freedom. We live peacefully and happily.
The other 10 people band together, visiting each of the peaceful people's homes, raping thier daughters and stealing their material possessions, even killing a few of them here and there.
The other 90 of us band together and create a police department, each of us pledging not to harm anyone unless they harm us, and pledging the police dept to do the same. 15 people are hired as "policemen" and given part of our money in order to defend us against the other 10, because we cannot all be at home watching and protecting our own life, liberty, and property.
Thus, the 10 bad apples are minimized in the harm they can do. Some of them may join the better part of society, and some are put in jail.

Methinks WasteLandWa|2rior confuses anarchy with freedom. I've met people like this in the real world. They think a Mad Max/Road Warrior type of world would be fun. The majority of these people wield little power in the real world, and for some reason they think that they'll be able to usurp some sort of power if the current system breaks down. If you can't make a decent living in our current system, you really won't have a chance if my friends and I have to come knocking on your door to survive. Be careful what you wish for!

well i want it to be like that because things seemed so much more simple in the mid evil times...
watch... kill... or be killed ( good possibility for the watchers to be killed in the midst of things)
we didnt have any of this comercial BOMBARDMENT like we do today... so much more stress
so much more bullshit that we worry about, that really we shouldnt worry about...
the only thing i want to worry about is surviveing... liveing for the day... not this bullshit capitalist future...

i know that when it gets here it will not be as i expect, but i expect the unexpected... infact im expecting to die in the early stages of it...

unfortunatly i am relying so much on this new world...(which is bad)....that i am haveing a hard time on knowing what future i should plan for...
and this is only OUR EARTH because we claimed it to be...
its to bad most of us have no respect for animals or the environment...( not to say that we all dont) but most of us dont care...

fallout and roadwarrior are fantacy however the more shit that happens in this world the more i believe that there is a really good possiblility that the world will end up like that...

ya i joined the reserves... first of all i live in canada... and our military is still useing 40yr old gear... be sides that.... i thought about the army alot..

You are not prepared to die until you intend to die very soon (i.e. suicide) or you are about to die and have the moments to notice. I know, it did happen to me. I am now know what it feels like to end all past, all future and knowing that the present will only last a certain amount of time. Well, i survived and still live but i am very conscious now about the meaning of death to oneself personally.
It is easy to say "I'm prepared to die," but usually you are not.

I think you should lay off the video games for a while and pick up a book or two. You seem to be all over the place piecing together fragments from various sources of fiction and fact into some dreamland that this better off as a script for a remake.

Militias? You haven't shown any evidence of militias forming anywhere. If you want to join a militia so much, why not go down to your local recruiting centre and sign up for a reserve unit. You'll have all the flash bang you could want, one night a week, and a weekend per month. You'll get paid for it too.

first of all i already did join the reserves for a year... did the 1 night a week thing .. then went to soldier qualifications course (ALL SUMMER)
stayed in the reserves for about 3 months after that...
Then started figureing.... why would i fight for someone elses ideals... plus nationalizim/patriotiszim is a joke in canada...
i would much prefer to fight for my own cause...
start my own war...

And hey just because i dont have a highschool education like the rest of you ... all refering to other sites and all that smart ass bullshit.... im still tryin to get use to doing this stuff.

What are you talking about? Armed gangs have always existed in North America, and what you are seeing in other countries is as ingrained in their culture as pork chops are in yours. You are just seeing these cultures for the first time so it is all novel to you. But things in the world are pretty much the way they've always been. Study some history and you will see that when you measure time over greater periods, things are quite normal in the world right now.
