i have an in ground tornado shelter, it sticks out about 12 inches on the top. i wonder if it would be sucked up out of the ground, or stay put. if it won't stay put then what will? i will re-think my game plan if necessary, i just don't want to lose my family like that one guy. does anybody know the answer to that question?

what happened to those poor people is supremely tragic, i bet they didn't even have a warning system in place.

From my personal experience (which, sadly, is a lot) this should be fine as long as the shelter has been put into the ground properly.

While tornadoes are powerful, I'm going to say no. The winds created by a nuclear bomb generally are stronger than most tornadoes. And, although tornadoes can damage more area, they usually don't. Plus, clean up from a tornado is fairly straight forward, whereas with a nuclear weapon, you've got radiation problems for years to come. Trust me on this one. I saw the most powerful tornado ever recorded, and it's something I'll never forget.

O trust me i have seen the largest and most powerful tornado to,but let me say some then, yes the shockwave from a nuclear blast is very fast and powerful, but you can not say winds (shockwave)by a nuclear blast is stronger then a tornado, first off a tornado is one of the most powerful forces on earth, second you do have a point the highest wind speeds we recorded in a tornado is 318mph,shockwave from a nuclear blast is more then 900mph,i can see y people say winds in a nuclear blast is stronger, but what people do not know is that no one has ever recorded the very real winds speeds in a tornado,318mph is the highest and even then the things they use to record was broken by the tornado winds,o tell me this, think about it,y can we measuse the winds by a nuclear blast, but wend we use it on a tornado it destroy, sorry i know a tornado winds are greater,a tornado is the fastest, strongest, most powerful wind on the planet.
