Name the 5 disasters or "end world" events you KNOW will happen within 100 years.
Well we always say or guess things that "could" happen or things that might happen 10 years from now or 10,000 yeas from now.
Well name 5 disasters or end world events that you are 100% sure are going to ahppen within the next 100 years. Remember these aren't things that you you think are going to happen like "Oh yeah theres an asteroid headed this way", because in that case this planet has been wiped out a million times already.
BTW you don't have to put them in most likley order if you don't want to:
1. Disaster: Running out of oil! Supposedly this is going to happen around 2019. Out of everything I read and see this is the one event I know and believe is going to happen the most and soonest (besides the already happening global warming).
2. End World Event: Nuclear War! I KNOW this will happen within 100 years. The countries keep getting more hostile, slowly but surley. Were just lucky we have terrorists to keep us busy. Chine is a second threat, Russia is the biggest concern with its falling apart crap.
3. End World Event: Yellowstone! I know this will happen within 100 years too. At least I think it will. If not I won't be around to be told I was wrong.
4. End World/Disaster: Global Warming! Its here and its only going to get worse!
5. I don't have any 5th event that I think will happen for sure. But if I had to choose it wouldn't be and end event or a disaster.. well depends on who your asking.... its called "big brother". Chip implants, cameras everywhere...etc. I mean almost to the extent of the stuff you see in the fantasy movies but not so obviously hollywoodized. I call that a disaster... or maybe the next Reich.
AO is about one thing. Going around in loops. No one cares to learn, they only care to live inside their boxes and ignore the truth!

If U.S would not leave middle east and turn from brutal state road, We will see collaping of U.S.A very soon. We are already witnessing some signs of this.
Honesty and frendship will win at the end.

Aug 18th, 2006 8:17 PM #10I think there's plenty of brutality on both sides, but only one dictator claiming to be the world's policeman, while at the same time, leading in the sale of arms abroad. I never have agreed with the concept that we have the right to bring "peace" to the Middle East by imposing a foreign form of government, merely because that model worked in Japan. Japan was unique in that they attacked the U.S. first and had fire from heaven dropped on them as a demonstration. My belief is that any nation that deserves democracy and hungers for it, will attain it.

Well, you have to at least get the basics correct.
The world is not going to run out of oil anytime soon. However, what will happen is that World Demand for oil will permanently exceed World Supply of oil.
This is called "peak oil," that is to say, the world production of oil has peaked. As President and CEO of Haliburton, Cheney claimed in a report published in 1999, that oil would peak between 2010 - 2012. The Russian and Romanian fields would be off-line and world demand would increase by 3% resulting in a net loss of 5% and oil, at $30-$40/barrel at the time would shoot up to $100/barrel.
In 2004, several think tanks, including RAND and CATO, reviewed the report in light of new data, mainly that Russia had new fields, world demand had increased more rapidly than expected, and that the amount of oil in new oil field discoveries was less in 1999 than 1998, less in 2000 than 1999, less in 2001 and so on. The predicted peak oil between 2007 - 2008.
With Iraqi production spotty, Prudhoe Bay off-line for the next 8-12 months, Nigerian production spotty and getting worse, and the Saudis injecting saltwater in the Ghewar oil fields for the last 3-5 years, both the Saudis and Kuwaitis downgrading their "proven" reserves, and world demand increasing that much more rapidly, plus last year's oil discoveries were less than 2004, I think 2007 is it.
Economists keep claiming that the US economy can handle $4/gallon, but I can't see it. First, the data is old, and secondly, I just got the answer to a question that's been bothering me for the last 12 to 18 months. Why have gas prices not affected consumer spending? People are taking out 2nd and 3rd mortgages and/or using HELOCs to maintain their bizarre spending habits.
For those who don't know, a HELOC is like a credit card except that your house is collateral and your credit line is based on the equity in your home, which is based on the value of your home versus what you owe on the principal of your mortgage.
So, if housing values collapse, everyone's HELOC credit line drops, because banks aren't going to let you borrow $100,000 on your home if it's value drops from $250,00 to $175,000 and you still owe $125,000.
Anyway, once oil peaks, gas prices, and everything related to gas prices, will continue to rise indefinitely, until such time as World Demand decreases, which could be accomplished quickly and easily using 100 well placed 10 kt Neutron Enhanced Radiation Weapons.
We've had 20 years to refurbish our rail system, canal/lock systems on major rivers, and build mass transit for large metropolitan statistical areas, and we have squandered it all by spending enormous sums on intersate highways which are obsolete by the time the construction project is complete.
Nuclear war is not the end of the world, although I would agree that it would be the end of the world for about 1 Billion people casualty wise, and for another 1 Billion it will be the end of the world for their way of life as they know it.

Even if you define it as a mass strategic exchange between all those possessing strategic nuclear weapons (UK, US, Russia, France and China), it still is a non-event.

The overuse of oil and profit based pollution is precisely why the world must be simplified and standardized before the fight for survival makes this planet nothing but a profit, sales and military war. I want to know who authorized man to posses and sell the natural resources of this planet? I say pay people for work performed and pay standard prices for products. Do you have any idea how much trash and waste is generated from the greed this planet promotes?

I say and in this order and not the end of the world to all, just most people/species:
1. Collapse/weakening of one of the poles sends the centifugal momentum into a flux and the gravity of the earth changes <as it has been doing since 2002> sending the earth's crust into a displacement.
2. Tectonic event under the ocean opens up either gas hydrants or vents to
spew unheard of amounts of toxins into the ocean/air
3. Flooding of all shores, everywhere
4. famine but most people die in the first 3 events
5. with a screwed up magnetic shield, something wicked this way come.

Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life.

If theres a nuclear war possibility i will be there to safe the world. Im actually a fox monster sent from the future to prevent an imcoming disaster. And global waming isnt real. The only reason more people are dieing is because there are more people. the weather is just the same but with more people to kill.
FOXES RULE!!!!!.
P:S: In the future the world is on the brink of colapse because of a rising internet virtual reality strand that is confusing peoples sense of reality. many people are killing them selves because of the confusion.I am the hope of the universe, the inforcer for all those who long for peace. ALLY TO GOOD, NIGHTMARE TO YOU!!! :52: undefined

May not end the world, but
1. 2011--increase in solar storms could cause major havoc on earth
2. Bioterrorism
3. Weather patterns continuing to worsen at such high rates that many things will come from that(drought, flooding, famine, disease, etc.)
4. World war I think will happen
5. For sure, my world will end within the next 100 years!

since most people have already covered the top five I thought I'd throw in a few that slipped below the radar.
Nuclear Accident on a Major scale - we're talking complete loss of containment. probability is that it'll happen in 100 years since we've started building so many more (with widely variable safety standards depending on where in the world you happen to be).
Industrial Accident on a major scale - like Bhopal but bigger - choose your poison, I envision flames entering into the picture at some point and that would send lots of vaporized or burnt whatever into the atmo. but it could also be liquid poison being mega-dumped into a water table through a newly formed crevasse (like, say, an earthquake scenario).
Civil Disorder on a major scale - since the Big 5 are already happening in pockets all over the place (with the exception of nuclear war) I don't think it's too much of a stretch to envision 'rebellion' bursting out here and there as the people, who are already living in conditions close to as bad as we think it'll get, start venting. this sort of thing has a habit of spreading, like a brushfire, and in today's world of quick communications I don't doubt that it has the potential to flash.
lycanox mentioned Naples and Vesuvius - and though I am not thinking that volcanic activity has increased my subconscious wants to believe this. plus the fact that many of the 'titanic' scale natural events we foresee (like Vesuvius) are due 'at any time now' makes me agree that 100 years allows a wide enough window for a 'big' eruption.

Starvation
Widespread viral epidemic i.e. Bird flu, ebola, smallpox
Open military conflict i.e. World War III,IV,V,etc.
