This administration makes Nixon look like a school yard bully stealing kid’s lunch money. I also wonder how all of this affects our troops in the field? Do you think if the USA would have gone in and actually represented the values of democracy and freedom we keep touting if the insurgency would have been less popular, seriously how many Americans and good Iraqis are dead because of this corruption? Certainly there is no lack for ambition on the part of several nations..... right now it just happens to be the U.S at the top of the heap, and nature does abhor a vacuum. So who would replace the U.S if it was removed? what country wouldn't make the same attempt to be dominant? And more importantly which country or politic has the moral character to withstand the same temptations that has pillaged the world since time began?

America is only doing what is necessary for its survival and prosperity ..... secure resources, maximise profit, prevent competition !!

Without doubt it is using subterfuge and manipulation and even straight out lying to get there ..... but with most things of any magnitude ..... the end justifies the means ....

Every Company anywhere in the world follows the same survive/prosper principles and performs them on a daily basis ..... only difference is when Nation States do the same, it usually involves a lot of death and destruction .....

I'd say that if China or Russia or any of the African States were in the same position as the US ..... things would be a shit load worse .....

I am in complete agreement with your views on the current state of matters. I cannot help, in these times, but to draw similarities between the current administration and the pigs in Animal Farm:

1) The pigs began subverting the rules on the barn door (constitution);

2) The pigs enlisted an army of black dogs to keep the animals obedient (homeland security - Patriot Act);

3) The pigs installed a speaker to spread propaganda and misinformation (CNN/Fox et al take your pick of corporate run media)

4) While the animals starved, the pigs were enjoying all of the profits in true hedonistic style (Haliburton);

5) The pigs began trading with humans (trading with despots - see previous leader of Turkmenistan and other questionable US relations including historically, Saddam); and

6) In the end the pigs transformed into the worst thing imaginable, the very thing the animals had worked so hard to overthrow, Farmer Joe (dictatorship).

The way I view it, we are all the animals - by and large a hard-working, decent and honest bunch, dominated by some unsavory pigs at the top.
