Tropical Storm Fernanda formed overnight. At last check it was centered about 1482 miles ESE of Hilo, Hawaii and moving west at 7mph. The storm has sustained winds of 45mph, gusts to 58mph. Computer models are predicting that Fernanda will retain tropical storm strength as it moves closer, but not attain hurricane-force winds. If all goes as predicted, the storm will start to weaken Sunday as it passes well to the south of the islands. Both the storm track and forecasted strength could change. Stay in touch with Hawaii News Now, your Severe Weather Station as we track Fernanda. [click to enlarge]
